ARTICLES
Definite articles = le, la, l', les. These all mean "the."
Indefinite articles = un, une, des.
Un/une = "a, an." Des means "some"
une and la are feminine.
un and by Alain le are masculine.
des and les are plural. (A plural word could be either masculine or feminine, you can't tell from "les")
l' is before a vowel or a silent h, for a singular word.
L' also doesn't give you a clue if the word is masculine or feminine. (But the word IS still either masculine or feminine.)Lait
